Spiritual Life Coaching

Are you committed to living well with God, Self and others? Do you seek support which recognizes and draws upon YOUR values and vision? Do you desire support for charting a course and keeping focused, all the while experiencing non-judgmental companionship and accountability?

My clients are building bold lives of blessing through their commitment to honor themselves and others. Committed to living well -- like you -- they are choosing to create lives which:

EMBRACE AUTHENTICITY
CLAIM COMPASSION
TREASURE TIME
BUILD “BELOVED COMMUNITY”
SUSTAIN SERVICE
FORGIVE FOR FREEDOM

You may benefit from coaching with me if you share some of these priorities…

You want to live well, and are committed to not being self-centered in a world of great need.

You want to understand what you really believe, and how you got where you are today.

You want to actively share your gifts and time, and are tired of old depleting habits.

You want to let go of your hurt, and don't want to act like your pain never happened.

You want to accept yourself, including your sexuality, and make loving choices about sharing yourself. You know that others may judge or oppose you.

You want to grow with your loved ones as they change, but don’t know how.

You want your organization to be healthy and efficient, vibrant and accountable.

YOUR SPIRIT/YOUR ENERGY

So, what do I mean by “spiritual life coaching”? By “spiritual life,” I simply mean your energy -- that core energy -- that animates all you think, feel and do. We'll learn together the ways that energy is working for you or against you. As a core energy coach, I will empower you to connect your inner passion and values with your outer goals in order to experience extraordinary and sustainable results. That’s what I mean by “living well.” We can also think of it as Energy LeadershipTM, the basis of this coaching practice. We’ll name and remove the energy blocks – the thoughts you hold that are getting in the way of living well.

I am open to serving people of any faith background (or none) invested in living well. Thanks to telephone and email, I partner with individuals and organizations across the United States and world.

Why do my clients love their coaching experience? With Energy LeadershipTM tools, clients successfully make choices to “live from the inside out.” Together, we find that the energy of integrity is the energy of joy.

HOW DOES COACHING WORK?

Coaching works so well because it’s a focused short-term partnership to support the growth, discernment and action that you intend. In addition, many clients choose to do this work by phone, which erases geographical and accessibility limitations (as well as the time and expense of commuting to appointments).

Coaching is a fairly new discipline. Think of a coach as one using a unique toolbox – bringing together certain habits of listening, dialogue, visioning, brainstorming and even homework. My clients, for instance, may be interested in things like a time management inventory, forgiveness exercises, journaling, new self-care practices, Bible study or experimenting with new spiritual practices or communities. Coaches believe that you are most empowered for abundant life when you are supported in your own discoveries, values clarification, and goal-setting. As your coach, I will help you name and achieve your vision of growth. I will be a conversation partner and a cheerleader as you take new steps in living with empowerment and abundant joy.

COACHING IS/IS NOT

Coaching is focused on you, the expert-in-training of your life. Coaching is not about my expertise, although I take seriously my responsibility to hear, honor and help you. Coaching is focused on your present and future, and how you are shaping them right now. Coaching is not an in-depth plumbing of your past, although your story about the past is certainly important to today’s decisions.

Like all meaningful one-on-one work, coaching relies on attentive listening in a safe and supportive environment. Unlike other spiritual direction, spiritual coaching will routinely be action-plan oriented. We will craft measurable steps and goals for the changes you choose. I’ll provide radically non-judgmental accountability and celebration as you live it out.
Coaching works very well alongside therapy, spiritual direction or other resources you may already be choosing in your commitments to living well. Like all tools for transformation, spiritual coaching requires mutual investment. In a sense, you’re becoming your own coach. I will be honored to help you on the way.

Unlike much therapy or spiritual direction, coaching is short-term, generally including three-to-six months of focused weekly or bi-weekly work. Coaching is not an open-ended relationship; this helps both of us to avoid the subtle temptations to dependence or complacency. In addition to the satisfaction of focusing on short-term visions and goals during a threshold time, clients appreciate the affordability of this short-term approach.
